ICanHas Community Members Tell Us Purrfect Stories About Meeting Their Feline Friends

Adopting a cat is always a special experience. Every cat is different, every cat brings something unique into our lives. Every cat adoption story is different as well. Some come from shelters, some get rescued, and some wander into our houses and refuse to leave. This phenomenon occurs ever so often, and we are all about it. Today we're taking a moment to shine a spotlight on our pawesome ICanHas community who took the time to share with us their adorable stories about how they met and adopted their cats. 

Cats in general are known for taking a while to warm up to their humans and they tend to be very cautious creatures, but those strays are hungry and can easily be swayed in your direction with a little food, or the promise of a warm home to relax upon the couches of. There's this totally unjustified stigma out there that cats don't actually love their humans, but every single cat owner knows otherwise. Cats can be incredibly affectionate. They have their own weird ways of expressing it. And sometimes they express it by adopting a hooman!

    Well folks, here we have a classic case of a cat adopting a human. The cat simply sets up camp in the human's house until it is determined that he is a resident of said house. Pure cuteness overload.

She texted back that she could hear a kitten crying. So I headed out down the road between our houses. Calling for said kitty.     That old lady cat, there always has to be one grumpy old cat amongst the bunch! For us, it's our siamese queen, Sheba. She does not take any sh*t from anyone, cat siblings included.

    Outerwear - Jade Dietz Dance Found her in the parking lot of a Taco Cabana on l-45. Maybe six weeks old, tiny little scrap of kitten. I assured my partner that I was not advocating for keeping the cat and I would take her to the shelter asap (about 36 hours later). By the next morning, he was wrapped around her little paw, and that was that. It took four years for him to admit that she's -his- cat, and she turns seven this fall.

    Felidae - Michelle Nemoto This little girl showed up in bad shape. I got her some revolution and fed and watered her every day for 2 weeks until she could safely come around my other animals. She walked right in the house four months ago and has never left. She's the sweetest and most affectionate cat and sleeps on my pillow every night. Her name is Peepa.     Cat - Billie Ponomarenko This is Casanova. I met him in a rescue home. When I asked who he was, I was told he was standoffish at best. When I sat down, he approached me and began nudging me. The rescuer was in awe because he'd never acted affectionate. I wasn't looking to adopt that day, but I'll be damned if I didn't take him with me. Nova crossed the Rainbow Bridge last year. He was 7.     Font - Top fan Alex Marie He saw my friend and I getting the into the car so he threw himself down rolling in the middle of the road for attention. I gave him a piece of turkey breast. A few days later he returned and was in our driveway. My father was home and came outside to meet him. That was when he decided he lived at our house. 12 beautiful years.
